Top result for carbon neutral depot
Bournemouth-based foodservice wholesaler Country Fare is settling into its brand-new, state-of-the-art depot, achieving an incredible sustainability goal along the way
Not only does the site offer the Unitas member additional space to continue its expansion plans, but it has also achieved the best possible energy status: carbon neutral with a -12 A+ rating.
A key contributor is the installation of solar panels which generated 45,000 kwh in July 2024 alone, returning 21,000 kwh to the grid.
Designed with sustainability at its core, the depot was the vision of Gavin Millward, managing director. “Our hope is that we will run the site on the electricity generated solely in the summer months,” he said.
“A welcome surprise has been the increased efficiency of our new chillers, freezers, lighting and heat pumps which meant that we returned twice the amount of electricity to the grid than we imported.”
