Sysco GB continues to transform the rooftops of its depots into renewable power stations with three new solar arrays

Rooftops at its Newhouse (North Lanarkshire), Reading and Warrington depots will now generate almost 3 million kWh per year combined, building on installations at Aylesford and Harlow and bringing the combined power generation to 5 million kWh.

The new installations will jointly save around 600 tonnes of carbon per year. And Sysco aims to continue to invest in renewables, with the ambition to only use renewable electricity globally by 2030.

Paul Nieduszynski, CEO at Sysco GB, said: “As our business grows, we aim to shrink our carbon impact. That’s responsible growth. These investments are the latest step in helping us to achieve our ambition.

“We’ve invested more than £3m in solar energy this year as the next step in our ambition to transform our rooftops into renewable power stations, and we’ll continue to roll this out wherever possible.”

The new installation supports Sysco’s ambitious, science-based climate goal to reduce emissions across its global operations and the company’s entire value chain. It will see the company reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 27.5% by 2030 and ensure that suppliers covering 67% of Sysco’s Scope 3 emissions establish science-based targets by 2026.
