Lomond adds value with sustainability advice
Lomond: The Wholesale Food Co has launched its latest product brochure with a clear sustainability message running throughout
In addition to sharing its latest products and brand new lines, the Glasgow-based wholesaler has added value advice regarding food waste, with icons used to demonstrate where there are tips for making the most of products to avoid unnecessary waste. These easy-to-follow tips, tricks and serving ideas are dotted throughout the brochure, providing recipes and serving suggestions to make the most of surplus food and leftovers.
The brochure also reflects the family-run business’s focus on reducing food miles. Customers looking to stock Scottish produce can easily identify them in the brochure with a dedicated icon.
“We’re delighted to share our latest new lines with our customers but we wanted to go further to really drive home our messages around sustainability,” said Barbara Henderson, director. “We’re extremely proud of our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental impact in a variety of ways, and we wanted to use our brochure to share some our achievements, while also making suggestions for our customers looking to improve their own sustainability credentials.”
Lomond has long been a sustainability champion with many achievements, not least replacing its delivery fleet with new electric refrigeration vehicles, replacing its sales fleet with fully electric vehicles, reducing food waste and increasing recycling. As a result of this continued focus on sustainability, Lomond was named Green Wholesaler of the Year at the 2023 Scottish Wholesale Association Achiever Awards.
