Focus on sustainable growth continues for Hunt’s

For Hunt’s Food Group Managing Director Thomas Hunt, sustainability lies at the very core of the wholesaler’s future plans

Hunt’s was founded in 1912 as a dairy farm and has sustainability embedded in its DNA. With B Corp status already firmly under its belt, the wholesaler has continued to improve its sustainability commitments. It has installed solar panels that generate a significant portion of its own electricity: “It’s a crucial step in reducing our reliance on non-renewable energy,” says Hunt.

Employees are encouraged to get involved with tree planting days, wildlife conservation projects and waste-reduction campaigns. The team work with food banks, charities and community organisations to redistribute surplus stock, as well as utilising it in its own staff canteen.

Hunt’s is taking things a step further, opting to work with suppliers that meet ethical benchmarks and actively promoting those with strong sustainability credentials while enforcing strict packaging standards.
